Power to the People is a thesis effort on the subject of the contemporary US voting system. The project explores the underlying reasons of low voter turnout on election day and finds that a large portion of the population feels that their votes do not attribute anything to the final outcome. This notion is tied to the Electoral College, which is found to be a large contributor to this feeling of powerlessness among Americans. Power to the People offers an alternative system, the National Popular Vote. This system aims to make every vote equal, so that citizens are empowered and encouraged to vote. In order to create awareness, an explainer video was created, as well as a social media campaign.
